Year 1 at Hilda Hut was a roaring success.  Everyone was blown away by Hilda’s ski terrain and once again Valkyr Adventures has raised the bar on backcountry accommodation!  The overall consensus is “Hilda Hut will be the ‘Go To’ ski touring lodge in BC! The guest testamonials speak for themselves and check out our new feature “The Guides Blog”. We’ve been busy with lodge operations but have posted a couple of photos from early season skiing. We’ll be posting more photos from this winter over the next couple of weeks – check back often! If you have photos of your trip to the Valkyrs please send them along! We’d love to share them.

Valkyr Lodge at Naumulten Mt. continues to be an all time favorite with the ski crowds. 8 years of powder eating grins speaks for itself!

Our ski season runs from December 15 – April 30. Many great ski weeks are available at both lodges. Contact us for current available dates. Next year we will explore the option of a winter traverse between the lodges, probably in April. This will be a guided trip and subject to weather and snowpack conditions. Let us know if you are interested in participating in the 1st annual Valkyr Traverse!

We are now able to offer hiking programs at both our lodges. This opens up new opportunities for exploring the Valkyr Range. In addition to our standard lodge based hiking trips we will be offering The Valkyr Traverse – a 8 – 10 hour hike between Naumulten Lodge and Hilda Hut. Be among the first to experience this unique and seldom travelled route.

Summer 2012 is booking up but there are still many opportunities to join a group or to book a trip for your hiking group. Contact us for availability.

We had a blast of late summer sun for the past month but fall has now arrived with much needed rain and even an early season dusting of snow. The crew has been working hard and we won the race… Hilda Hut is under roof! Because we’re doing log construction the interior finishing is simplified and we are still on schedule for a mid-November completion. As well, we now have satellite internet! Just amazing!

Now that the deep winter snowpack has mostly receded we’ve been able to resume construction on Hilda Hut. During the past few weeks we’ve made great progress – three of the decks have been completed, the walls are now at the base of the third floor, and we anticipate being up to roof within three weeks.  Already the ski weeks for Hilda Hut 2012 are booking up, however we still have a good selection of prime weeks to choose from.
