Valkyr Adventures hiking trips are based out of our 3 backcountry lodges located high in the Valkyr Range of the Southern Selkirk Mountains. Each lodge has its own flavor of hiking adventure so you can choose the level of challenge that fits you best! All packages include helicopter transportation to and from the lodge. While at the lodge it’s all legs and lungs!

VALKYR LODGE on Naumulten Mountain

VALKYR LODGE is located at 2,210 m in an alpine basin on the western slopes of Naumulten Mountain. Here you step into alpine beauty right out the door! Hike through alpine meadows filled with seasonal blooms, next to rushing streams, circle around sparkling lakes and tarns and climb up grassy approaches to the ridge walks and rocky peaks. Stunning panoramic views of the Valkyr, Valhalla and Monashee mountain ranges greet you at every turn. There are 7 unique drainages to explore at Valkyr Lodge each with its own flora, fauna, water features and level of difficulty. The terrain in the home basin will be suitable for all hikers with a reasonable fitness level. There are easy loops of 3 – 4 km that take you through subalpine meadows to grassy alpine knolls. For those looking for longer tours there are options for 10 – 12 km loops that include options for scrambling up peaks over 2,400 m.

THE LEQUEREUX OUTPOST on Mount Lequereux

THE LEQUEREUX OUTPOST is located at 2200 m on Mount Lequereux on the eastern most spur of the Valkyr Range. The lake is a short stroll from the lodge and there’s a canoe for paddling. Daily objectives include hiking to the vast alpine meadows and subalpine lakes in adjacent drainages. The view from the Outpost is panoramic and far reaching. The terrain at the Outpost will be suitable for all hikers with a reasonable fitness level.

HILDA HUT on Mount Hilda

HILDA HUT is located at 1950 m on the north shoulder of Mount Hilda. The mountains here are steeper and the approaches to the alpine meadows are more rugged, but the rewards are bountiful! Day hikes include lower elevation strolls through old growth cedar giants hiking up to subalpine meadows teeming with alpine flowers or rambling around the lakes and tarns. Keen and sturdy mountaineers may want to attempt to summit Hilda Peak at 2640m! The terrain at Hilda is suitable for most hikers in good physical condition.

THE VALKYR TRAVERSE

THE VALKYR TRAVERSE is a 7-day package which enables hikers to really stretch their legs by hiking between the lodges! Multiple nights are spent at each lodge with day hikes to explore what each has to offer. The distance traveled between Valkyr Lodge and Hilda Hut is 12 – 14 km. The distance between Hilda Hut and The Outpost is 5 – 6 km. The full Valkyr Traverse is suitable for strong hikers and can be started at either Valkyr Lodge or Lequereux Outpost. A 4-day two lodge traverse is also an option starting from Valkyr Lodge or Hilda Hut. Mid-August to mid-September is an ideal time to do the traverse!
