THE VALKYRS are a largely unexplored mountain range. With 8 peaks over 8,000′, the choices are as vast as the terrain.

Valkyr Lodge, set at 2,210 meters in the north end of the range on Naumulten Mountain, provides access to 7 unique ski zones on 3 mountains – Naumulten Mountain, Mount Rollins and the north face of Mt. McBride. With runs on all aspects giving options for all snow and weather conditions backcountry skiers will love the terrain at Valkyr Lodge!  From steep couloirs and alpine features to rolling open glades, there’s a wide selection of terrain to choose from to accommodate all ability levels and ski touring agendas.

Hilda Hut, set at 1,950 meters on Mount Hilda, provides access to the terrain around Mount Hilda, Mt. Prough and the east and south aspects of Mt. McBride in the Valkyr Range. Hilda Hut offers the same great amenities as Valkyr Lodge – separate bedrooms, indoor plumbing, A/C power and a separate sauna hut with shower facilities.

The terrain at Hilda is best suited to the more advanced backcountry skier. The terrain is bigger and the runs are steeper than at Valkyr Lodge. If you describe your backcountry ski skills as advanced intermediate to expert and you seek the steeper more challenging terrain, Hilda is for you!

New for 2017!  The LQ Outpost on Mt. Lequereux is the latest addition to the Valkyr backcountry lodge collection.  This is a rustic cabin designed for the hardcore DIY ski touring crowd that gives access to new advanced terrain in the Valkyrs. The LQ Outpost is set at 2,200 meters on the north face of Mt. Lequereux and has a jaw dropping view of surrounding mountain ranges.

The ski terrain at the Outpost has a great mix of intermediate and advanced backcountry skiing right out the door. Experience long tours, steep and deep couloirs and some of the best tree skiing in the Kootenays!

Our exchange day for all lodges is on Sunday from our staging area in Burton BC.

We can provide Airporter service from Kelowna BC (YLW) for a fee.
